Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows. After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."
-Nehemiah 4:13-14

I'm not a leader of people in the way I used to be, but if I'm ever in leadership again, I want to be a leader like Nehemiah. In leading the rebuilding of the Jerusalem wall, he was both practical and spiritual, showing the strength that comes of trusting God and taking necessary action. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Happy birthday, dixie-- hope you have a great one!

Need to call Daniela today and let her know I won't be making it to San Francisco for the wedding. I think I have as much peace with the decision as I'm going to. I just can't do it all.

It's raining now, and I didn't wear a jacket. Ah well. I may wait a bit, and even getting a little damp isn't a terrible thing.

But I prayed, "Now strengthen my hands."
-Nehemiah 6:9
