More Jack

Continuing to plug through The Problem of Pain; I finished a whopping three pages this morning. Part is deficient attention span and part is like eating a wonderfully rich dish-- best not to spoil it by taking in more than I can enjoy.

Jack thought of the day:
I call this a Divine humility...He is not proud, He stoops to conquer, He will have us even though we have shown that we prefer everything else to Him and come to Him because there is "nothing better" now to be had. The same humility is shown by all those Divine appeals to our fears which trouble high-minded readers of scripture. It is hardly complimentary to God that we should choose Him as an alternative to Hell: yet even this He accepts.

Oh, and a Miriam sighting, complete with quick smile. She didn't come inside the coffeehouse, but recognition on a walk-by isn't a bad thing.

What is a Jack thought?

Re: curious

C.S. Lewis = Jack. You caught my attempt at pseudo-intellectual familiarity with the author. Busted.

Re: curious

And here I was thinking I was the one who got caught out not knowing something I ought to...
