Money for nothing

A Costco truck just pulled up to Irwin's, invading and blocking my field of vision with a barrage of product placement: Talking Rain Lemon-Lime Sparkling Water, Sparkling Ice Sparkling Spring Water (Black Raspberry), Hewlett Packard Inkjet Cartridge Combo Pack, Dixie Paper Plates and Plastic Cups, Dole Pineapple Tidbits, Lysol Professional Disinfectant Spray, Falcon Dust-Off (The Original Compressed-Gas Duster), Peanut M&M's, Post-it Super Sticky Notes, Crystal Geyser Natural Alpine Spring Water, SeaPak Oriental Breaded Butterfly Shrimp, ReaLemon Lemon Juice, and an Office Star Manager's Chair. The chair is the only unlabelled item, so a logo has been emblazoned over it.

Does this make anyone else tired?

I'm far from leading the simple life and tend to favor free enterprise, but geez. Don't we ever have a sense of enough? I know the answer long before posing the question; I don't need to look farther than my own heart for it. Yet in this moment, one of the things I look forward to about Heaven is that no one will be trying to sell me anything.

(Related aside: Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room premieres today. Tempted to dig out my old correspondence with Kenneth Lay from my Houston days for nostalgia's sake.)

Commercial visual assault notwithstanding, it's a good day so far. Gray for the first time in a few, and I like that. The pavement is wet, and I love that. My headphones encase me in a bubble of music and my coffee was free.

Once upon I time, I went to Ron Jon Surf Shop. There was an article of clothing there I really liked. I would have bought it, but I couldn't find a single one in any color that wasn't emblazoned with a two-foot wide Ron Jon logo. Even a little one on the breast, I could have lived with, but I refuse to be a walking billboard.
Yeah, that's way too many adjectives.
And just way too many products. Ugh.

deep thinking way aside

free coffee...WOOT~!

Re: deep thinking way aside

They have cards for a free one after seven or eight. Makes me happy!

Go you!

Sweet.
You used to live in Houston?? I wonder - do you still have a TX accent? *grin* No wonder I like you!
