It is painful work to get in step with God and to keep pace with Him— it means getting your second wind spiritually.

Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest (12 October, "Getting into God's Stride")

Awoke early with hope and joy. These haven't been my hallmarks, so they serve as evidence of the Spirit of the God on the move in my heart. Later this morning our church will vote on whether to call John as our Senior Pastor. I'm quite hopeful— he seems gifted and true, and we need closure and forward motion after a year and a half of interim time. In our staff discussion yesterday (at the Canterbury, a good sign), he nixed my mobile office proposition, and I found myself gladdened by the prospect of someone who would actually want to use our office space as a base of operations for God's invasion of the city.

Also good to know that Victrola now opens at 6:00 on weekends. I'd thought it had only gone back to 6:30, so this is even better. Maybe I need to develop a fresh routine or two.

Those who pray, please pray for our meeting and vote at 12:45 today. We want to follow God's will for our church and to know Him better in the seeking of it.

I just absolutely love the way you write.

I'll pray for your meeting at the church.

God Bless.
Thank you, Doug. I'm deeply honored.

The meeting went well and we did call John as our pastor. God blessed indeed– thanks for your prayers.
We called him, he accepted, and we're moving forward. Thanks for praying!
I love how God is outside of time - so even though I saw your post at 5:30 eastern, I can still pray for your 12:30 pacific thing. btw, how did it go?
The way our congregational meetings usually go, that kind of praying would work in time, too.

We took a while, but we did decide to call John as our pastor and he accepted. Aslan is on the move....

thankssomuch for your prayers!
Congratulations - that is such great news for all of you!!
