Of Mondays, moods, and muffins

I didn't sleep nearly as much as I should have last night. Fell asleep watching TV around 7:30 and woke up again around 11, which helped to hose any sleep schedule I might have attempted. Even with less than the US RDA of sleep, there's a huge difference between going in for Monday morning at a job I dreaded (my last one) and going in for a job I actually look forward to (this one).

I'll need to beware of grumpiness, however, because inside I'm wrestling a bit. Often when I've got something I'm working through internally, my external patience is dangerously short. That wouldn't be good on the day when all of my bosses are coming back to the office. Today will likely have more than the usual amount of catching up and responding to an assortment of unrelated requests. That's a lot easier to do when my internals are at peace, but such is not my case today. Guess that's why they call it work. Thankfully, it's easier to get out of the way when you hear the train coming in advance. Forewarned is forearmed.

There's a muffin in my future. No croissants at Victrola on Mondays, so I'll be getting a muffin fix from Caffe Vita on the way into the office (blueberry cream cheese or almond poppyseed? decisions...). I'm also wearing some of my snazzy new clothes, and just a splash of the nice-smelling stuff. I'm thinking the work day ahead will be good.
