Rest and reconnection

Hit lots of little random things at the office today: got a jump on some stuff I usually procrastinate and traded e-mail with Heather about the prospect of co-leading a multiplied Community Group. Bummed to learn that USE had a few thousand dollars of gear stolen yesterday, some of it irreplaceable. Hoping that Phil and I can find some ways to help, especially with the record release show this Saturday.

Got to talk with one of my ex-RAs, Abi, via IM this evening. She's coming back to Seattle for a visit, having finished her first year teaching third grade in the Rio Grande Valley with Teach for America. Sounds like it has been rewarding for her, and the experience is inspiring her to consider a doctorate in linguistics so she can write curriculum. She was surprised and happy to hear about the label and plans to attend Saturday's show.

Cooked tonight for the first time in a while. Nothing fancy; I'm a simple man in that regard. It feels good to have enough peace to do that simple thing. Having the past couple of nights to myself has been an immeasurable blessing. Sometimes even television can make me smile.

Scully: You've got that look on your face, Mulder.

Mulder: What look is that?

Scully: The kind where when you've forgotten your keys and you're trying to figure out how to get back in the house.
