For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves...

—Colossians 1:13

God, that's beautiful.

Rescued. My rescue was the mission of greatest importance in the Kingdom. Never higher stakes, never greater sacrifice. And He did it.

Forgive me for ever living a smaller story than this.

Already enjoying the day off. Soothing would be the word for the morning. Awoke with an assurance, at once fragile and permanent, that everything will work out. This is true, of course, regardless of my situation, but that doesn't mean I feel it. Perhaps this is some taste of the peace that passes understanding. I am more trusting of peace that persists despite my circumstances yet in the midst of them. Denial is a house of straw— though I've stayed there before, it was terribly drafty and I never felt safe.

Good conversation with Ken, the sandwich maker at Victrola. Ken is a pastor on leave of absence from his church; it is good to see how God provides for him in work and in spirit. We would disagree on a great many things, I suspect, yet the fellowship is good today.

Some reading and writing today, I hope. Perhaps even cooking. Rest.

That verse and the first three lines of your entry blew my mind...Awesome stuff. Its a great thought that God is that intensely concerned for us.

I know...that verse just grabbed hold of me tightly this morning.
Weird how each of us is the most important story ever to God, isn't it? How does He do that?
"He's the King, I tell you."
