Independent thoughts

Monday holidays are so good.

Michael preached really well yesterday. He's a blessing to us.

My TiVo decided to record Tommy Boy for me yesterday. This is proof that my TiVo ♥s me.

I've been craving the coffee and muffin I'm now enjoying since last night.

Stevie Wonder's "Superstitious" just came on. Love.

I am irrationally considering an iPod. It will probably pass.

My mom will probably call today to tell the story about how, when she was a little girl, her father found a trunk full of all kinds of fireworks that they set off all day and night. She tells us this story every year, and if she doesn't call, I'll call her to hear it again.

May have Jeremy & Jenae over to grill (grill food, not grill them). Good view of fireworks from near my place tonight.

I had need to beware of lean prayers, lean praises, lean duties, and lean experiences, for these will eat up the fat of my comfort and peace....How anxious should I be to have no lean-fleshed days, no ill-favoured hours! If every day I journeyed towards the goal of my desires I should soon reach it, but backsliding leaves me still far off from the prize of my high calling, and robs me of the advances which I had so laboriously made....Why should not every year be richer than the past, in love, and usefulness, and joy?—I am nearer the celestial hills, I have had more experience of my Lord, and should be more like Him.

—Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Morning and Evening (4 July, Morning: "Leanness of Spirit")
