Rainy days and Mondays

Have to say, I'm already not a big fan of today. Much as I love the rain, walking to work in it can suck, especially when it's been raining a while and the puddles soak my shoes and pants. Umbrellas have little value in this regard.

Got a late start and arrived at the office to discover that one of our windows and part of our ceiling are leaking like something that leaks a whole lot. This successfully drenched stacks and stacks of paper I had on a table for filing (sometime). When I tried to move the table, its legs buckled and it collapsed. Perfect.

Still in relatively good humor about it all. There's often something just plain funny about having our collective butts kicked by nature– as if we could expect to have control of it. The humility factor is probably a good thing, too.

What I don't have is a clue on how I'll proceed with the day amid the fresh chaos; it's hard to know where to begin. Glad that I keep a running to-do list with reminders of my normal routine and what needs to be done when, for times like this when my head escapes me. Some say I'm organized, but it's actually the necessary management of my disorganization, procrastination, and laziness. At this stage of my life, I've owned and owned up to a lot of my crap. Makes life better by far in the freedom of knowing that I don't have to earn God's love. Snaps lots of the other stuff into perspective.

Of course, I forget all the time.
