Quiet

She described
the perfect quiet:
candles and music
competing
to be the most
(or least)
softly present.
A steaming teacup,
unmentioned,
yet implied.

But in my quiet,
something rushes,
something crushes,
something waits
and keeps me waiting.

I shall make
some tea
and begin again.
