World waking up

Been at Victrola since six and am watching the world outside slowly wake up and come to life. Traffic on the street and on foot is picking up, though the walkers often still have that sleepy look on their faces, as if they’re not quite ready to take on the world and the day. Like me, I think they all know that the day is coming anyway.

Part of the reason I’m up is to keep plugging away at the remaining assignments. The picture is still bleak and I’d love to fast-forward to the stage where we’re actually handling the problem. Discussions and hypotheticals are quite tiring.

Staff training is on my heels. I’ve got to get these RHDs oriented and it’s hard to even know where to begin. Sounds like Rob Flores is willing to come on board as our Programming/Leadership GA, which completes our Senior Staff. A huge relief— now it’s time to get people set and in motion.

I hadn’t realized it, but there’s a striking parallel between the outside world and my own team. We’re all waking up, as painful as that may be. We’re all still tired and dragging, but the day is still coming. And underneath the sleepy eyes, there’s an inexplicable hope, one that rises in spite of the difficulty of the road ahead, for no other reason than simply because the day is fresh.
