Tranquility

We must try to keep the mind in tranquility. For just as the eye which constantly shifts its gaze, now turning to the right or to the left, now incessantly peering up or down, cannot see distinctly what lies before it, but the sight must be fixed firmly on the object in view if one would make his vision of it clear; so too man's mind when distracted by his countless worldly cares cannot focus itself distinctly on the truth.

—St. Basil the Great

Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted. Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world. ~ Hans Margolius

Banzai, much as I enjoy your journal, I really don't have time to read it (I read very few, to tell the truth), so I hope it won't bother you if I take you off my friends' list. I do hope you'll visit my journal on occasion and make a comment, but since you haven't been doing that anyway, no worries if you don't. I know beyond any doubt that we'll meet in heaven, so if I don't hear from you until then, may God bless you, and may you bless His Holy name.

Peace in Christ,
Shadow
