Once more into the breach

Looks like I've found my iMac G5 issue. Good news is that it's a known issue and a free repair. Bad news is that this means a trip to the University Village Apple Store. Which means a trip to University Village. Which I hate.

Yep... This is a very very common issue with the first and second gen iMacs. You getting scrambled video or the no power. Burning smell?
It's been the power cutting out sporadically here. Just a hint of the burning smell. I'll probably take it in just before I head to London next week, so that the down time doesn't affect me too much (I have no idea what kind of repair timeframe to expect).
The repair is less than 30 minutes (if you are good) and maybe another hour to verify. But who knows how many machines they have stacked up and when they'll actually get around to replacing the parts.
uck! Driving down there is the worst! Every time I had to drive close to town...especially IN town I would get so stressed. Especially if I didn't know exactly where I was going and it seemed that EVERYONE else did and was in a hurry to get there.
I'm usually a bus guy, so at least I avoid that headache. But the whole U Village vibe can be like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
I never was much of a bus person. I used to ride the bus to Northgate Mall to work when I lived in North City. I don't have anything against it, I'm just one of those people who is always afraid I would get on the wrong bus, miss my stop, have to wait for hours for the RIGHT bus...stuff like that. I was never familiar with the schedules so I could just go "hey! Let's take the bus to _____and______for the afternoon!" I either borrowed mom's car or got a ride with a friend. And don't even get me started on sitting next to people I didn't know...I'm afraid of people.
U Village is SO different than it used to be. When John and I were first dating, there was practically nothing down there.

It is one place, for sure, that bussing is the preferable mode of transportation.
I had to go to the mall yesterday to pick up some new sandals. I made it into two different stores and came out with new sandals in under 30 minutes. I was glad to be alive.
Most impressive. It's a jungle out there.
